bên bỏ cuộc và bên được cuộc
đổi đời, số phận bể hay dâu?
lòng ghềnh thác, lặng lờ, bồi lở
xanh ảo vọng, từng trải trắng đầu

nội chiến, máu tràn dăm chặng sử
thời ta, lồng ngoại tranh, ghê thay!
bại vong, hãnh tiến trong tan hợp
tâm sử, văn ghi nhớ cuộc này

quý lắm vô vàn thơ thảm khốc
như cùng kho truyện ngẩn ngơ mừng
vượt Gianh, Bến Hải thua và thắng
viết thật, sử không thể mịt mùng

đỏ đến nhẫn tâm, vàng lại chợ
án văn, thành giải lớn trao cao
duy chuyên chính cứ hoài xuyên suốt
vô Tổ quốc, cờ cứ ngoại Sao! *

tâm sử đời riêng thời trẻ tuổi
khác thời vỡ mộng, điếu tô hồng
hát reo “Cởi trói” còn kiêng sử
cày sử, cho đều lúa thật bông

biến động, cái nhìn Đảng biến đổi
tôi chân thật, mỗi chữ từng câu
chùa sang hồng, đổi mới, hoà giải
Hồn Nước lòng son, giữa bể dâu.

(*) Tam vô: Vô Tổ quốc, vô gia tộc, vô tôn giáo; nhị các: Các tận sở năng, các thụ sở nhu (mỗi người đều làm hết năng lực, cùng hưởng thụ theo nhu cầu). Xem: Phan Ngọc, “Bản sắc Văn hoá Việt Nam”, Nxb. Văn hoá – Thông tin, 1998, tr. 465-466. Theo đó, Bác Hồ không nói đến tam vô, không nói đến nhị các (Phan Ngọc thiếu sót tư liệu Bác nói về nhị các), Bác vẫn trung thành với Tổ quốc luận, có nghĩa là cờ Tổ quốc nước ta chưa có, và trong thế bắt buộc bấy giờ phải gọi cờ đỏ sao vàng (cờ chủ nghĩa Lenin) là cờ Tổ quốc. Như vậy, ngoài cặp cờ Búa liềm Sao, cần có thêm cờ Tổ quốc, vì Tổ quốc không thể là chủ nghĩa Lenin được.
